Exhibition room
The mill, symbol of Holland

The first and second floors, which originally contained bedrooms, now house display cabinets featuring, amongst others, tools, books, equipment and (old Dutch) objects associated with milling or depicting a mill, a symbol of Holland. An audio-visual programme can be seen on the first floor.
Grain and Flour trade
The second floor features subjects such as the Leiden millers' guild, the mills of Leiden, the history of De Valk and the grain and flour trade, including instruments used for taking samples and testing the quality of the grain.
Near the staircase and the hatches on the various landings, there are large pulley blocks used to lift heavy objects (e.g. millstones or parts of a mill during construction or reparation).
History of grain grinding
The third floor, a former storage loft, has also been turned into an exhibition room, detailing the entire history of grain grinding. A number of splendid models of different types of mills, such as a tower mill, a sawmill and various types of polder draining mills, can be admired here.
In the early days, these floors were used solely as living and/or storage space. The actual milling activities take place above.
